How to Decorate with dark wood floors

Flooring too dark but you don’t want to redo it? A dark wood floor is a very popular and ever-trendy interior solution. The most beautiful contrasts are easily achieved with dark wood flooring ideas, which are a smart option for every room, including your kitchen and hallway. Dark wood floors can be incredibly chic and sophisticated, bringing richness to a space, but when paired with the wrong furnishings and colours, those floors run the risk of making the space feel dark and heavy. If you’ve been wondering what to put with your dark floors to bring out their best features, try these ideas -
·       Light walls – If your room isn’t too big, I suggest you go with light coloured walls. It doesn’t need to be white, but the wall colour should be significantly lighter than the floors and furniture to keep the space from feeling heavy.
·       Light wood furniture - Because furniture rests on top of the floor, it directly affects the way you look at the floor itself by attracting the eye. For the most harmonious look, choose wood furniture that matches the warmth of your floors but is a few shades lighter.
·       Go for layered textures - For a sophisticated urban look, try mixing a range of textures like Leather, suede and velvet in soft, muddied hues.
·       Rugs - Make a feature of your flooring as a dark backdrop to a bold rug choice. Shaggy Moroccan rugs go with nearly everything but look especially great atop dark wood floors.
·       Make sure the dark shade of the floor is repeated on a variety of objects, and thereof look more natural and well balanced. For instance, you can boost the warming effect of your cherry-chocolate or mocha laminate with lamps, picture frames, throws and pillows in a similar shade.
·       Add pops of cheerful colour – Don’t be fearful of adding colour. Use colour in small doses to pep up the space.
·       Bring nature inside - A couple of leafy plants will complement the dark wood base better than you can imagine, and will make even the smallest room feel airy, fresh, and lovely. They will look the best surrounded by light wooden furniture.
So, go ahead and make the best of your dark floors!
